Step into one of Cheshire’s Most Golden Gardens on Sunday 18th October at Norley Court, near Frodsham.
Close your eyes in this Norley garden in June and breathe in the fragrance. Many varieties of Mock orange (philadelphus), jasmine, roses, lilies, and the magnificent Rhododendron loderi 'Polar Bear' — one of the most powerfully fragrant rhododendrons - a sight and scent rarely experienced.
As well as the purple wisteria there’s also a beautiful white wisteria with long racemes, also perfumed and yet another large rhododendron which is covered in pink/white fragrant flowers. Several varieties of cornus will also be in flower: China Girl, Miss Satomi, Kousa and Norman Hadden.
Colourful rhododendrons clothe the banks around the pond and it’s fountain and in the herbaceous border the flowers will be coming to life in front of the centuries old garden wall. Among many, many other plants and trees you will see a Pineapple tree (Cytisus battandeiri), a Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) only discovered in China in the 19th century, peonies, tree stocks, purple, white and lavender coloured Abutilons (large evergreen plants of the mallow family) and much more.
This is a garden that rewards all the senses — and this is one afternoon in October when you can enjoy it all!
