Modern Slavery Statement

We recognise our responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our operations, relationships and employment practices. All our staff and volunteers have a responsibility to uphold our organisational values to ensure we maintain a working environment that is respectful and free of abusive, unprofessional and unethical conduct.

Supply Chains and Procurement

Our supply chains include providers of goods and services that support our clinical care, facilities, operations, fundraising and retail activities. We recognise the potential risks in any supply chain and seek assurance that our supply chain are ethical suppliers and contractors.

Policies and Procedures

We have a range of internal policies in place that support our approach to preventing modern slavery:

  • Safeguarding Policy – outlines procedures for identifying and responding to concerns, including exploitation.
  • Freedom to Speak Up Policy – enables staff and volunteers to report concerns confidentially via an external Speak Up Guardian.
  • Recruitment and Employment Policies – ensure fair and ethical employment practices, including appropriate pre-employment checks for all new staff and compliance with relevant employment legislation.
  • Equity and Diversity Policy – promotes fair treatment and respect for individuals’ rights.
  • Reporting of incidents/concerns – we have a process in place for reporting concerns, which are flagged to senior management/Trustees to ensure they are addressed appropriately.
  • Risk Management – we monitor all identified risks and put measures in place to reduce these where appropriate.

Training and Awareness

All our staff are required to complete mandatory, annual, safeguarding training, which includes awareness of modern slavery.

Monitoring and Review

All our policies, procedures and supply chains are reviewed regularly to ensure they are effective, ethical and in line with current legislation.
