100 Miles for Hospice Care

Rob Griffiths raised an incredible £1,646.03 for patient care at St Luke’s Hospice after completing a gruelling 100-mile running challenge in a single weekend.

The Winsford personal trainer, owner of Funk Fitness, ran two miles every hour from Friday, June 26, to Sunday, June 28, covering a remarkable 100 miles over 48 consecutive runs.

The 28-year-old started most of his runs from the gym on John Street, with the exception of England’s World Cup match against Panama, when he stayed within viewing distance of the Gate Inn on Delamere Street. For his final stint, Rob was joined by more than a dozen fellow runners as he completed a six-mile finish instead of the usual two miles.

The challenge raised funds for both Mid Cheshire Mind and St Luke’s Hospice, two causes that meant a great deal to him.

Rob said: “At Lean Body Kitchen we had a chef, James Fisher, who, after we closed, took his own life. Since then we have donated a lot of money in his memory to Mid Cheshire Mind. As for St Luke’s Hospice, none of my family members have been there, but friends of my family have, and they have received great care from the hospice.”

Thanks to Rob’s extraordinary effort and the generosity of his supporters, £1,646.03 was donated to help St Luke’s Hospice continue providing compassionate care for local patients and their families.
