St Luke’s ‘turning up the heat’ on local businesses for November fundraiser

The search is underway for teams & colleagues across South Cheshire to take part in a ‘firewalk’ fundraising event for St Luke’s Hospice.

The charity has taken the usual firewalk concept but has pledged to ‘turn up the heat’ by adding in lots of exciting extras, to create a life-affirming event like no other with ‘The Ultimate Firewalk 2022’.

Andy Bailey from the St Luke’s fundraising team, explains that this event has been on the backburner for a good while: “Over the years, we’ve organised dozens of firewalk events, mostly in pub car parks and outside village halls. They are great fun, but we’ve always felt that there is potential to go BIG with it. So that’s exactly what we’re going to attempt.”

The Ultimate Firewalk is being held on Friday 18th November at the Heritage Centre in Crewe, a central focal point for the region’s industrial past. There will be free drinks on arrival, free wood-fired pizza, a party DJ to keep everyone entertained, live music, plus a cash bar and a big prize raffle. Central to proceedings is the mind-over-matter expert who has the task of getting all the participants over the red hot coals, and St Luke’s promise that they have the best guy in the business!

It’s £50 per place and teams can be as small or as big as you like. There’s enough room for 150 participants, with the event being staged both inside the main building and around the grounds.

Although the event is not until mid-Autumn, Andy is already looking forward to it and hopes local businesses will join in: “It goes without saying that in 2020 and 2021, events like this seemed a very long way off. The opportunity to get together with your work colleagues and brave this challenge, whilst also raising money for St Luke’s, is one we hope local businesses will get on board with”
