Winsford grandad hits the jackpot with St Luke’s Lottery

Christmas has come early for a well-known Winsford grandad who has won £1,000 with St Luke’s Lottery.

David Robinson of Station Road is known for bringing festive cheer to so many in the town in the run up to Christmas by decorating his home with a huge array of festive lights and decorations.

David and his family have loyally played St Luke’s Lottery for years and they were delighted to receive the news of their jackpot win. David said: “It was very pleasing, a lovely surprise. It’ll go in the bank and then if we see something we’ll treat ourselves and no doubt the grandchildren will get a treat out of it too.

“We’ve won an odd £5 over the years, but we joined the Lottery because we wanted to support the Hospice and if you win then it’s a bonus. We never expected to win the jackpot! I’d urge anyone to join St Luke’s Lottery, if you can spare £1 a week then chance it and support the Hospice.”

To date, the Robinson family has raised more than £15,500 for the Hospice through donations made by members of the community for their Christmas lights displays. They start work on the display in October, testing the hundreds of lights to make sure they are in working order. It then takes the family one week to decorate the house and then another week to connect them all to the electric.

St Luke’s Lottery Manager Nicola Mainwaring said: “We were delighted to call Mr Robinson to tell him he had won £1,000 with our weekly Lottery. We can’t think of a more deserving winner! We are so grateful to the Robinson family for their continued support of the Hospice, from playing our Lottery to their festive fundraising they have certainly made a difference to patient care over the years.”

The Lottery has grown over the last three decades to become St Luke’s biggest single source of income and has raised more than £12 million since its launch. It still costs just £1 a week to play.

The Lottery offers players the chance to win 35 cash prizes each week, including a £1,000 guaranteed jackpot and a £200 Rollover.  If the Rollover prize is not won it will rollover and accumulate each week – it could be won at any time but if it gets up to £5,000 there will be a guaranteed winner.

Every penny raised in profit from the Lottery supports local people being cared for by St Luke’s, so by taking part you’ll be supporting your local Hospice while being in with the chance of winning fantastic prizes each week.
