A family of volunteers…

Our F&F shop in Winsford is currently looking to recruit new volunteers, particularly over the summer months while our existing volunteers take a well-deserved holiday or have to cover childcare.
We went along to meet Becca, a ray of sunshine at our F&F shop, who is 28 and has volunteered here for over 2 years now. She volunteers every Saturday morning. Working full time, she manages to find time to help out. Becca decided to start volunteering for us after her grandparents, who also volunteer at the shop, started telling her all about what they do and how they need more volunteers at the shop. Becca said “I initially started volunteering to help my grandparents. I started to really enjoy it so I decided to come every week.
“It’s a busy place and there is always something to do but it’s very relaxed at the same time, everyone is so nice and I’ve met some lovely people. I think it’s the social aspect that I enjoy the most – it’s really enjoyable.
“It’s been great to help build my confidence with socialising and talking to different types of people. I’ve enjoyed working here so much, I’ve taken days off work so I can come in and help for special events such as the Prom Dress Shopping event. I’d recommend to anyone to volunteer if they can.”
Thank you for all your support Becca. If you want to learn new skills and meet new people and would like to join our team of volunteers you can pop into the shop for a chat or email volunteer@slhospice.co.uk to find out more. You could even join as a group with your family or friends like Becca did…
