Volunteers’ Week 2025 – Steve (Warehouse)

Our Furniture Warehouse is a hub of activity and a vital source of income towards patient care. It takes a huge team of people to help make that happen, which includes volunteers like Steve.

Steve from Crewe is a shop floor volunteer and van driver at St Luke’s furniture warehouse. Having retired, Steve now spends some time each week, alongside his wife Jo, volunteering his time and giving back to the community.

Steve said: “I get a lot of enjoyment out of volunteering at the Warehouse. Some of the stuff you see coming in here is fantastic. You never know what you’re going to come across.”

“Doing this (volunteering) also offers a way for me to get out socially. After retirement, people can often be found with a lot of time on their hands and nothing to occupy it. Volunteering offers a great way to keep you busy, both physically and mentally. Plus, you might get a bargain or two in the process!”
