Volunteers’ Week 2026 – Seamus

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining a light on the incredible people who give their time to support St Luke’s – people like Seamus from Crewe, who has volunteered with us for more than ten years.
“I feel very proud to have volunteered with the hospice for over ten years. It has been an incredibly positive and rewarding experience, and I appreciate being part of such a caring and dedicated team.”
Seamus first began helping at fundraising events, and over the years has taken on a variety of roles – from supporting our Warehouse with furniture deliveries and collections to helping patients enjoy creative art sessions in our Day Hospice. He shares:
“What I enjoy most is meeting people from all walks of life and knowing that what I do makes a difference. I particularly enjoy helping in the Day Hospice art class as it is lovely to see patients relax, chat, and enjoy being creative together. I also enjoy the teamwork and sense of community among staff and volunteers, whether I’m out delivering furniture or helping at fundraising events.
“I would definitely recommend volunteering to others. I would say that even giving a small amount of time can make a big difference. There are many different roles available, so there is usually something to suit everyone’s interests or abilities. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, learn new skills, and feel part of something meaningful and worthwhile.”
